The
Jevne Outdoor Academy is
the realization of a heartfelt vision that Darlene Jevne has developed
over a period of years. In 1982, Darlene founded St.
Christopher Academy, a school in Seattle for academically at-risk
students, to help her son and four
other students who needed a supportive environment, as well as a
challenging school program. St.
Christopher Academy has earned the high regards of leading experts
in special-focus education, and from fellow members of the Experiential
Education Association of America.

As
a complimentary summer program for teens, Darlene developed
The Jevne Outdoor Academy. Nestled in a land of natural
awe-inspiring beauty, the The Jevne Ranch is located on 425
acres just 30 minutes southeast of Sun Valley, Idaho.
The
Jevne Outdoor Academy offers programs that combine summer with
adventure designed to meet the needs of children 13 to 18. It
is ideally suited for students with time management issues,
learning differences, ADD/ADHD, special needs or students who
learn better by seeing, touching, and doing.

As
leading sociologists realize, wilderness activities provide
a rare opportunity to release an individual's hidden qualities
and more fully develop a person's unique identity. In addition
to ranch operation responsibilities, the basic Summer Ranch
program includes a focused study project. Each student selects
a subject, such as ornithology, geology or social history,
while participating in the wilderness activities mentioned
on the left side of this page.
Special
Note:
Applications will only
be accepted at the SUMMER SCHOOL WORKING RANCH Business

a first come basis system will be used for selection and rank
order for waiting list based upon date received in Business
Office.
